Justin, Joey & Thunder
Justin and Joey are two 2 year old brothers who originally came into the shelter when they were babies from another rescue. They were adopted and lived with a loving family but sadly they could no longer look after them so they are now back and waiting for a second chance. Thunder is a young guinea pig who came into the shelter after being found abandoned in a cardboard box during the torrential rain. He was with two other guinea pigs and all three were incredibly stressed. They all had signs of fighting with one another but poor Thunder had the worst injuries. He had open wounds all down his back which resulted in painful sores and hair loss throughout his body. We separated him from the other two to allow him to heal and while the others were adopted soon after arriving, Thunder was still recovering with us but lonely. We introduced him to the gentle duo – Justin and Joey and they immediately took him under their wing and are getting on great. All the pigs are feeling more confident and content since being together so we hope to find this terrific trio the best home ever 🙂
Thank you for choosing to adopt a small animal from the NPSCA. Please make sure to do your research on how to care for a small animal before considering adopting. We recommend guinea pigs be kept indoors with an enclosure that’s a minimum of 120 x 60cm for two guinea pigs with plenty of space for tunnels, hides and foraging spaces.
Guinea pigs require proper housing, bedding, food, enrichment, exercise and vet visits. Small animals are not pets for young children to look after, all the family must be on board to look after and care for any new pet coming into the home. We have seen too many being abandoned so please make sure that you are in a position to look after them and provide them with everything they need.
