Lacey – Court Case

On the 24th of March the inspectors responded to a call about a neglected dog. They removed a Staffordshire Bull Terrier from the premises and transported her to the DSPCA.   Lacey was severely underweight, weighing only 10.6kg when she should have weighed between 15/16kg.

Lacey remained under the care of DSPCA veterinary team until she had gained weight and deemed healthy enough to be adopted. The animal care team helped Lacey grow in confidence and
In July 2017 , Lacey’s owner was convicted under the 2013 Act on three counts – failing to safeguard the dogs’ welfare, failing to get veterinary care and to provide fresh food and water.
She was banned from the ownership of a dog for 5 years and fined €2,200.

Lacey found a wonderful loving home and is now living the life she always should have.
