Job Vacancy: NSPCA Dublin – Receptionist
Role Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for providing welcoming and professional first point of contact for visitors, volunteers, adopters and members of the public. You will be responsible for managing the front desk operations, handling enquiries via email, over the phone and in person. This role is based full-time on site in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Greet visitors, adopters, volunteers, and members of the public in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to emails and general enquiries.
- Provide accurate information about animal adoption, surrender procedures, and shelter services.
- Direct enquiries to appropriate shelter staff when required.
- Maintain reception area and ensure it is organised and presentable.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Maintain accurate records and update shelter databases.
- Collect adoption fees and issue receipts.
- Ensure documentation is completed accurately.
- Ensure compliance with shelter policies and animal welfare standards.
- Assist with general administrative tasks as required.
- Promote the shelter’s mission of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
- Responsible for the shop and encouraging visitors to make purchases.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous reception or administrative experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and multitasking abilities
- Good computer and office software skills
- Ability to work in a busy and sometimes emotional environment
- Compassion for animals and commitment to animal welfare
Desirable:
- Experience working with animals or in an animal welfare organisation
- Knowledge of animal care or adoption processes
- Experience with database or shelter management systems
Hours of Work
- Full-time, 5 days over 7, 9am-5pm.
- Flexibility required; rota is issued weekly.
- Weekend and public holiday availability is essential.
