Job Title: Kids Camp Leader

Location: NSPCA located in Rathfarnham, Dublin

Description

As a Kids Camp Leader at the National SPCA Rathfarnham, you will be responsible for leading, supervising, and engaging groups of children aged 7–12 in fun, educational, and animal-focused activities. You will be a key representative of the NSPCA’s educational mission, helping children develop empathy and understanding for animals in a safe and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of all children participating in the camp.
• Lead and assist in the delivery of daily activities, timetables, workshops, and animal care sessions.
• Encourage respectful and responsible behaviour toward animals and others.
• Provide basic animal handling guidance.
• Facilitate educational talks, games, arts and crafts, and outdoor play.
• Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and friendly manner.
• Support the setup, cleaning, and general upkeep of camp spaces.
• Report any incidents or issues promptly to the Education Manager.
• Work collaboratively with other camp leaders, volunteers and NSPCA Staff.
• Ensure the NSPCA Child Safeguarding Policies are followed at all times.

Requirements

• Available from 9.30am-4.30pm from the 30^th of March-10^th of April 2026.
• Experience working with children in a camp, school, or childcare setting.
• Passion for animal welfare and education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and on your own initiative.
• Confidence handling animals of all shapes and sizes.
• Must be over 18 and willing to undergo Garda vetting.
• First Aid certification is a plus.

Desirable:

• Qualification (or currently studying) in education, childcare, animal care, or a related field.
• Previous volunteer or work experience with animals or in a shelter environment.
• Ability to manage groups with enthusiasm, patience, and authority.
