Job Title:       Daycare and Pet Hotel Canine Carer
Location:       National SPCA Pet Hotel, Mount Venus Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, D16 FP80
Reports to:    Pet Hotel Manager

In this role as Canine Carer, you will be responsible for overseeing the care, well-being and facilities for the guests of pet boarding and Doggie Daycare.

At the NSPCA Pet Hotel and Daycare, we pride ourselves on providing the highest level of care and comfort for our guests while ensuring that all nutritional, sanitation, exercise, enrichment and well-being needs are met. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our services, caring for pets and liaising with clients. You will have responsibility for making sure all duties are completed each day throughout the facility.

Principal duties and responsibilities of this role include:

Supporting the Manager, Team Lead and Supervisor with the daily operations of the Pet Hotel and Doggie Daycare.
Reporting any concerns in relation to staff or the welfare of animals to the Team Leader.
Responsibility for all animal care duties, including feeding, cleaning, administering medication, and providing exercise and enrichment.
Ensuring that daily checklists and cleaning protocols are completed to the highest standard across all areas.
Supporting team members on shift as required.
Monitoring the health, wellbeing and behaviour of animals and reporting any concerns promptly.
Assisting to uphold a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
Creating a positive and engaging environment for all pets in the Daycare and Pet Hotel.
Supporting volunteers and work experience students the Daycare and Pet Hotel.
Contributing to an inclusive, respectful working environment at all times.
Following all Health and Safety procedures and reporting any concerns to Management immediately.
Ensuring that all policies and procedures present in the employee handbook are enforced and followed at all times.

Requirements/Qualifications:

A qualification in animal care is an advantage
Previous experience working with animals, particularly canines.
Knowledge of animal behaviour, health, and nutrition is an advantage.
Licence to drive a manual vehicle is an advantage.
Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of team and people facing.
Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job.
Willingness to work flexible hours when required including weekends, and public holidays.
