Job Vacancy: National SPCA Education Manager

Role Description:

The Education Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the National SPCA around Ireland.

Community Education & Outreach – Spearheading public education campaigns and outreach programs to raise awareness, promote animal welfare, and foster responsible pet ownership in local communities around Ireland.

This is a strategic and hands-on role that requires a passion for education and development, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to animal welfare.

 

Duties:

Community Education and Outreach

  • Develop and deliver engaging educational sessions and resources for schools, youth groups, community centres, and the general public with inclusivity at its core.
  • Create accessible and age-appropriate content to promote animal welfare, responsible pet ownership and the work of the National SPCA.
  • Take ownership of our kids Camps.
  • Represent the charity at community events, school visits, workshops and public talks.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, local authorities, community groups and other stakeholders.
  • Co-ordinate volunteers or education ambassadors to support outreach work.
  • Work with the communications team to support awareness campaigns and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Collect feedback and monitor the impact of outreach and education initiatives.

 

Strategic and Organisational Contribution

  • Act as the organisation’s lead on learning, development and public education.
  • Contribute to the National SPCA’s strategic planning and organisational development.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in all learning and outreach activities.
  • Prepare reports, impact summaries and recommendations for senior management.
  • Keep up to date with best practice in training, community engagement and animal welfare education.

 

Management

  • Provide effective line management and support to staff and volunteers, ensuring high performance, clear communication, and a positive team culture.
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of our Special Education Programme, Work Experience placements and Transition Year student engagement, ensuring meaningful, well‑structured learning experiences.
  • Take full ownership of planning, organising, and delivering all Camps, including programme design, staffing, logistics, and participant experience.
  • Develop and maintain high‑quality digital education resources, ensuring content is engaging, accessible, and aligned with organisational goals.

 

Experience:

  • Experience in Learning and Development, Educational Programming, or Community Outreach. (Experience in nonprofit or animal welfare sector is an advantage)
  • Experience designing and delivering training programs (in-person, digitally and blended).
  • Proven track record managing education-related projects and aligning them with organisational goals.
  • Experience working with senior leadership in strategic planning or organisational development to translate goals into educational and outreach initiatives.

 

Skills:

  • Strategic planning and analysis: Ability to assess training needs, design programs, and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
  • Experience with Stakeholder Management.
  • Evaluation and impact measurement: Ability to assess the success of educational and outreach initiatives and use data to make improvements.

 

Desirable:

  • Public speaking experience: Comfortable representing the organisation at workshops and training.
  • Knowledge of best practices in animal welfare education: Keeping up with trends and innovations in animal welfare and community engagement.
  • Degree in a related field is advantageous.
  • Additional certifications or professional development in learning and development a plus.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have your own car and full Irish Drivers License.

 

Working Hours:

  • Permanent, Full Time Role – 9am-5pm Monday to Friday
