(Foster to Adopt) Aitch

Meet Aitch. He is an 11 week old male Netherland Dwarf rabbit and came into us after being born with his siblings in their foster home. Their foster home did a wonderful job raising them and as a result they are happy confident buns. As Aitch is so young he cannot be neutered yet, so we are looking for him to go on ‘Foster to Adopt’ with a forever family until he is old enough to be adopted.

Foster to Adopt is similar to adopting in that the chosen family will take their rabbits home with the intention of adopting them in the future. However, the rabbit remains the property of the NSPCA until the official adoption is completed. The new family agree to bring the rabbit back to the shelter on the agreed date to be neutered and for their aftercare appointments. After the rabbit has been neutered, we will book the official adoption with the family where you will get their paperwork and everything will be signed over to you as the new owner.

Thank you for choosing to adopt a small animal from the DPSCA. Please make sure to do your research on how to care for a small animal before considering adopting. We recommend rabbits be kept indoors with an enclosure that’s a minimum of 120 x 60cm for one rabbit with plenty of indoor free roam time.

Rabbits require proper housing, bedding, food, enrichment, exercise and vet visits. Small animals are not pets for young children to look after, all the family must be on board to look after and care for any new pet coming into the home. We have seen too many being abandoned so please make sure that you are in a position to look after them and provide them with everything they need.
