This is little Biscuits – a young albino royal python (also known as a ‘ball’ python). Biscuits is a wonderful little fella who is quite shy initially but is becoming more confident in his new environment. He hasn’t has the best start it seems as he has multiple scars along his sides that are likely from burn injuries, which would have been very painful. Thankfully they are all healed now but care must be taken when he is shedding that the scales shed properly. Biscuits is a typical royal python and likes to hide during the day and is most active in the evening time. He’ll make a wonderful pet to someone interested in the more scaley babies – he’s certainly a favourite here among the team for his gentle nature.
Royal pythons are from semi-arid and forest areas of Africa. They can grow to between 4-6 feet and live 30-40 years. They need a large enclosure which has branches, hides and substrate in which to dig, climb, hide and explore. They need a warm environment with UVB lighting and humid temperatures especially during their shedding period.
