The DSPCA is Ireland’s leading animal welfare organisation, established over 180 years ago in 1840. Over the years we have grown to be the leading and largest animal welfare charity in Ireland. We exist uniquely to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome sick, injured and cruelly treated animals. We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Part-Time receptionist to join our team at the DSPCA. As front of house, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service, managing enquiries and assisting with administrative tasks to support the operation of the shelter.  This position requires a dedicated individual who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. A strong commitment to customer service and the ability to multi-task. 

Responsibilities & Duties

- Greet and welcome visitors, clients and potential adopters in a friendly and professional manner.

- Answer phone calls and emails, addressing inquiries about shelter services and general information.

- Schedule appointments for veterinary care using our shelter management software.

- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing animals using our shelter management software.

- Assist with processing of payments for Adoptions and processing of volunteer applications

- Collaborate with shelter staff to ensure smooth communication and coordination of activities.

- Keep the reception area clean, organised and welcoming to visitors.

- Participate in occasional off-site DSPCA events to help promote our mission.  

Qualifications and Person Qualities

- 2/3 years previous customer service experience essential.

- Strong passion for animal welfare and a genuine interest in promoting the well-being of shelter animals.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the public, staff, and volunteers.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage animal records and appointments effectively.

- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Proficiency in using basic computer software (e.g., email, word processing, databases)

- Weekend availability is required. 

Salary & Benefits

This is a part -time, hourly position with baseline work week of 21 hours per week and  12 days holiday per year. Position is subject to Garda Vetting and reference check.
