Peru arrived to the DSPCA in 2017 as a feral cat with newborn kittens. She reared her kittens at the shelter in a safe environment until they were old enough to find homes of their own. Peru spent time in our care after her kittens were rehomed and then we neutered her. As a feral cat we could not touch Peru, she was not used to humans at all. Peru was released back into the place where she was originally found through our TNR (Trap Neuter Release) Programme.
Peru obviously decided that the DSPCA was her true home and where she belonged because one day soon after she was released she made her way back to the shelter. Over time she has allowed her favourite staff member Colm get close enough for little head rubs and like clockwork, she appears at breakfast and dinner time for some tasty food. Peru now lives here and from time to time she may be seen patrolling the grounds ensuring things are just the way she likes them!
