Celebrating International Dog Day 2023
Saturday 26th August
We are busy getting ready for a very important day which takes place this Staurday the 26th of August; International Dog Day! A day to celebrate dogs of all breeds; family pets, therapy dogs and working dogs. It is a day to celebrate the important role that they play in our lives and to raise awareness of rescue dogs. Dogs really are incredible. They bring us comfort, save lives, provide therapy and ask for nothing in return.
Last year was a huge success and we hope this year will be just as great!
Several businesses including dog friendly cafes have already come on board with us and are holding events on this special day and fundraising for the DSPCA which we are really incredibly grateful for.
Everyone can help
If you would like to get involved and help us celebrate International Dog Day please email Fiona HERE and she will drop an A3 fundraising poster out to you which which has a handy QR code or a Text-To-Donate number on it which will make it very easy for people to donate. Or you can donate to the DSPCA directly via the DONATE button
We can also help give you some ideas like a goofy dog photo competition or a dog friendly coffee morning or a raffle!
On Saturday 26th of August the DSPCA will be at Union Café in Mount Merrion hosting a dog show which will include;
- Cutest Puppy, Best Junior Handler, Golden Oldie, Best Rescue Dog and Best Mixed Breed.
We love meeting your dogs so make sure to come along and join in on all the fun! The highlight of the day will be our Sniffari - this is so much fun and your dog will LOVE it - what dog doesn't like sniffing!
