Adoption Process

Adoption Process

We are delighted to say that the shelter will re-open to the public on Wednesday 11th May 2022. Weekly opening hours: Tuesday - Sunday between 12 - 4pm. Monday will be open for fostering and vet appointments only. We are delighted that you are thinking of adopting a pet from the DSPCA. The website is up to date with animals available for adoption and we update it as more become available. We have been inundated with families looking to adopt a puppy and have a waiting list. We will not be adding to this list until further notice. We apologise to those who are disappointed but please be patient with us at this time as we are doing our best to help families who wish to adopt.

 The Adoption Process

  1. View the pets available for adoption on our website.
  2. Complete the “Register Your Interest” form for a specific pet or visit the shelter and complete the form online at the shelter. All applications must go through the website.
  3. If your application is successful an adoption consultant will discuss in more detail with you.
  4. A Trial Adoption will be arranged with you to take the pet home with you for a weeks trial.
  5. When the trial adoption week is complete the adoption paperwork will be completed and sent to you via email.
