What We Do

Dog Boarding

PetBoarding1The DSPCA Dog Boarding facilities are the perfect holiday destination for your dog.

We have custom built individual and spacious dog kennels which are manufactured in UPVC & glass and are ventilated, spacious & bright with good natural light.

We provide the highest quality environment for your beloved dog.  We have dedicated and trained dog loving staff to give your dog the best of care possible. Our compassionate pet loving caregivers also live on the premises.

Our indoor boarding kennels are individually heated, ventilated and air conditioned so whatever the weather your pet will be comfortable and happy.  We provide spacious accommodation for all sizes and breeds of dogs.  The boarding kennels have been designed to suit every dog's needs, from small dogs to families of large dogs.  Whatever your dogs breed or if you have a multiple dog family we will cater for them.

Each dog will have their own personal kennel for the duration of their stay, we never house dogs from different homes together and our solidly built kennels ensure that none of our animals directly face another. This reduces frustration or intimidation between our guests and helps maintain a calm atmosphere with minimal noise levels.  We have used state of the art building materials in our kennels to ensure they are easy to clean and safe for your dog, your dog will also feel safe and secure in our facilities.

For the physical and mental health and safety of your dog we don't have group exercise areas.  Dogs are walked in a large enclosed grass field and have playtimes with our care staff on a person to dog basis so your pet won't get lonely and will get lots of fresh air within safe and carefree surroundings

We have a high caregiver-to-dog ratio that each dog gets more than enough love, care and attention. Catering to all special needs ranks high on our list of priorities so even if your dog is a bit shy and reserved we take the time and patience to bring them out of their shell so that they may fully enjoy their stay.

Bowls, Bedding and Toys for Dogs

Everything that your pet needs during their stay is supplied by us, we have bedding, blankets, toys, food and water bowls, etc.  We walk your dog in a grass field and your dogs legs may get wet (due to the lovely Irish weather) so we don't take in any bedding or blankets but we advise bringing an old t-shirt of yours that we can leave in your dogs bed so they have a familiar scent of home.  We say an old t-shirt as they are easy for us to dry if they did get damp.

Food

We keep in stock a healthy range of food for your dog. If special diets are required they should be supplied along with any specific feeding instructions. Some dog's stomachs can be sensitive and a change of diet can cause stomach upsets so if your dog does have a senstive stomach it can be beneficial to bring their own food.  If your dog suffers from a sick stomach we will ensure that our veterinary clinic staff take good care of your pet but there is an extra charge for veterinary care.  We do not offer discounted rates if your own food is supplied.

Health, Medication and Illness

We are happy to give prescribed medication to dogs staying with us - please supply clear written instructions and sufficient quantity of medicines for your dog's entire stay.

In the unfortunate event of your dog becoming ill during a stay with us the DSPCA has a veterinary team on staff. We have a full vet clinic as part of our facilities onsite in our grounds if required.  We can also liaise with your vet if your dog is being treated for an on-going condition.  There will be extra charges if veterinary care is required.

As part of our normal care we carry out routine health checks on your dog during their stay with us and groom them regularly during their stay with us. We offer a range of extra services that you can avail of while your pet is staying with us including microchipping, read more our wide range of services here.

Exercise & Activities

Your dog will get individual 1-1 regular daily walks by our trained care givers in our large outdoor facilities.  If a dog is not suitable to be taken out or the weather is just too bad other activities are provided to occupy our guests. We have bathing and drying facilities onsite so we will endeavour to exercise your pet outside as much as possible. We will play games such as ball or fetching other toys/objects. A nice brushing and fuss is interactive and enjoyable. As our staff are all dog lovers your dog will get lots of attention and cuddles. Care is individualised according to the temperament and interests of the dog.

For the physical and mental health and safety of your dog we don't have group exercise areas.  Dogs are walked in a large grass field and have playtimes with our care staff on a person to dog basis so your pet won't get lonely and will get lots of fresh air within safe and carefree surroundings

Coming Soon - We will also have a dog park that your dog can have extra playtime and socialise with other dogs opening soon. Your dog will be supervised by staff while in the park but specific permission will be asked for from you before we bring any of our guests to the dog park.

Hygiene & Safety

The welfare of your dog as well as the other dogs in our care is vital to us so it is absolutely necessary to bring along your dog's current vaccination certificate. It is our policy to refuse entry to any dog that does not have a valid veterinary vaccination certificate andor is showing symptoms of any contagious illness or disease.
All dogs must be vaccinated against the following:
Kennel Cough + Yearly Vaccinations
For Vaccinations to be valid they must be done at least 14 days prior to their arrival to us. Kennel Cough is an intranasal vaccination and is not part of the yearly booster injection for your dog so please check with your vet if your dog is vaccinated against it.

Every attention to detail has been thought about especially hygiene as this is a major factor of the dogs welfare. We chose UPVC and double glazing glass as it is a non-porous, fire resistant material and is a high quality material. The material construction is cleaned easily and does not harbour disease.

We follow a strict daily routine in hygiene to avoid any cross contamination during a dogs stay with us. The enclosures and all the items within are thoroughly disinfected before the new arrival checks in. Every item we have used in the rooms has been carefully chosen so that they can be disinfected.  We do not use any wood products that can harbour bacteria or disease. Our dog kennel building is completely separate from our reception and cattery and we have dog kennel only kitchen, washing & storage facilities.

Our facilities have secure double doors for the security and safety of your pet so pets will only be allowed outside when they are with us so you don't have to worry about your dog going missing from our facilities.  These secure doors also ensure that your pet is safe from any unwanted visitors.

Our facilities are alarmed with CCTV Security cameras and staff are onsite 24 hours a day.  Keeping our dog kennels separate from our reception areas means that no-one is allowed in the dog kennels without staff supervision, it is not possible for any visitors to just wander in which keeps your pet safe and secure while boarding with us.
