The DSPCA has been advocate for Animal Welfare and working to create a more humane society since 1840.
Our efforts involve working with the Irish Government, Gardai, Irish Veterinary and other Animal Welfare groups to improve animal welfare legislation, increasing public awareness on animal issues, and promoting individual actions that lead to improved animal welfare.
We are also working to improve animal welfare legislation for the European Union.
Irish Legislation changes can take many years, and public support is always needed.
Please help us stand up for all animals by adding your voice to one or more of our campaigns!
Some of our Current Campaigns include
Animal Welfare - companion animals, wild animals, exotic animals, farm animals
Controlling the importation and ownership of exotic pets
Campaign Successes
We worked closely with the Irish Government, Gardai, Irish Veterinary and other Animal Welfare groups to bring in Puppy Farm legislation in 2010.
After many years of hard work, we brought about the introduction of The Control of Horses Act in 1996.
