The Great Irish Dog Walk 2016

Join the DSPCA and 5000 waggly tails for the Great Irish Dog Walk in partnership with Purina.  A fun filled walk and doggie themed festival around the boundaries of the beautiful grounds of the DSPCA with spectacular views over Dublin Bay and the surrounding countryside.  This event is open to all dog owners or simply people who love animals and wish to enjoy a fun day out, while supporting the lifesaving work of the DSPCA.

This year we are planning the walk to be even bigger, better and even more fun for you, your dog and your kids.

Walk Date: Saturday 10th September (10/09/2016)

Where: DSPCA Campus, Mount Venus Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16

Start Time:  11am to 4pm – Staggered Starting times – 11.00am, 12.00 noon, 1.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.00pm and 3.30pm.

Registration: Registration is €10.00 per adult, kids and dogs go free.  Free parking onsite.  Please note due to health and safety it is one dog per adult.  

Together we can make a real difference for the most vulnerable animals in our community.

Each adult must be pre - registered at €10.00 per adult, dogs and kids go free. Free parking onsite.  Registeration is online or through the post.

WE NEED 5000 dogs and their families to walk with us in the DSPCA Campus on the 10th of September to help Raise awareness of the unnecessary suffering of animals, to help the DSPCA raise much needed funds to rescue neglected and suffering animals and to stand together for all animals who haven’t had a good start but who all deserve a VOICE and a second chance at life.

Rules & Regulations

There are a couple of rules:

  • All Dogs must be on a lead

  • Any dog listed as restricted breed or non-socialised must be muzzled.

  • All dog walker must carry bag/poop scoop

  • All dogs must have up to date vaccinations

  • The responsibility of all participants, should their dog foul, is to clean it up.

  • Water readily available at the start, on the course and at the finish.

  • Emphasis: "Safety at all times!".

  • Course to be clearly defined, marked out, start and finish etc (maps supplied).

  • Registration tent to be set up for last minute arrivals from 9 am onwards.

  • Marshals and helpers, clearly identified and strategically positioned.

  • Vet on standby coupled with assistance from Code Blue.
