DSPCA were called to a housing estate in Dublin on Monday 19th January where a case of cruelty to a dog had been reported. When the DSPCA inspectors arrived they actually found four dogs living in appalling conditions both in the house and in an outside shed. The floors were covered in faeces and waste material and all dogs were in terrible conditions suffering from emaciation and multiple other conditions. The animals were removed from the premises with the assistance of the Gardaí.
Unfortunately due to the severity of their conditions, three of the dogs had to be euthanised by the DSPCA veterinary team. The remaining dog is in a very serious condition and is being monitored 24/7.
The skeletal and decomposed remains of a number of cats were found in an outside shed. This case is under investigation.
This is just one of the many cases dealt with on a daily basis by Inspectors and staff at the DSPCA. We will keep you posted on the condition of Willow, the remaining dog.
