The DSPCA would like to wish all of our supporters, friends, volunteers, foster carers and callers a very Merry Christmas and to advise everyone regarding our opening hours, mobile veterinary clinic and emergency service hours over the festive period.
Shelter: The shelter will close to members of the public at 4.30pm on Friday 23rd December 2011 and will not re-open again until 1.00pm on Tuesday 3rd January 2012.
Mobile Veterinary Clinics: Thursday 22nd December 2011 will be the final clinic prior to Christmas. This is the Ballymun clinic. The clinic will re-open again on Tuesday 3rd January 2012. This will be the UCI Coolock clinic.
Emergency Service Over Christmas: There will be no emergency service on Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day, 25th and 26th December. If you have an animal related emergency on either of those days, this is what you should do:
Contact the Pet Emergency Hospital at UCD at 1890 564036 - Please make sure to telephone ahead first.
If you have an emergency involving a wild bird, please place the bird in a box large enough to give it room to move, and making sure it has plenty of air circulating in the box. Place the box in a quiet and darkened area, i.e. a warm shed, a downstairs loo, a cloak room and give only water to drink. If in any doubt regarding the bird's health status, contact the Pet Emergency Hospital or your local vet for advice.
Contact the shelter the following morning.
If you have an emergency outside of the Dublin area, then contact the ISPCA on 1890 515515.
Also, you can call a local vet or your local Garda station.
If the emergency relates to your own pet, please contact your family vet.
Thank you and a very happy and pet safe Christmas to you all.
