National Animal Welfare Forum

Monday May 16, 2011

To launch this year’s Spay Ireland Initiative (previously Spay Week Ireland) which will emphasise the importance of spaying and neutering all year, the Veterinary Ireland Animal Welfare Committee has organised a National Animal Welfare Forum.

This Forum aims to gather together interested parties to discuss some of the current issues involving Animal Welfare in Ireland.
In particular, the aim of the meeting is to review how the stray animal problem has changed in the past five years and to look for a consensus view on the best way to move forward.

Topics for discussion include the impact of stray animals, horse welfare, online animal sales, wildlife, initiatives for owners who can't afford vet fees and animal welfare legislation.
The format will be for each speaker to give a 15 minute summary of their particular area of focus, followed by a short discussion with questions from the floor.

Date Sunday 22nd May 2011
Place The Ballroom, Citywest Hotel, Dublin
Time 1.00 pm – 5.00 pm
Chairperson Pat Kirwan, President, Veterinary Ireland
