Friday 10 May 2013: The DSPCA has today announced details of Microchip 2016. The campaign, launched by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, TD, will see 2,016 puppies and dogs microchipped free of charge by the DSPCA at locations across Dublin in the coming weeks. DSPCA Urges Support for Debate on Animal Welfare Bill

Tomorrow, Wednesday 27th March will see the proposed Animal Health & Welfare Bill once again being debated (fourth stage) before the Dail. The DPSCA is urging all politicians to support the legislation which will replace the outdated Protection of Animals Act 1911 as amended 1965. On an average day the Society receives over 400 calls to its emergency and cruelty line which is up by 150 a day on 2012. Many of these calls cannot be dealt with under current legislation.
DSPCA reminder to landowners of their responsibility as owners abandon horses

The DSPCA have issued a reminder to landowners and tenants who keep horses on their land of their legal obligations towards the welfare the horses. The reminder follows the removal, late last week, of two horses found in an emaciated state, from premises in South Dublin. One of the horses was subsequently destroyed due to its condition....
