DSPCA launches Great Irish Dog Walk

 

The DSPCA today announced details of a major new fund raising event the “DSPCA Great Irish Dog Walk”. The event will see the largest number of dogs ever gathered together in one location in Ireland. 5,000 dogs and their human families will “Stand up and Walk” in the Phoenix Park on 28th September 2013 to take part in the 3k walk.  ... Read more

DSPCA Welcomes Passing of Animal Welfare Bill

 

Wednesday 22 May 2013:  The DSPCA, Ireland's largest and longest established animal welfare organisation, today welcomed the passing of the Animal Health & Welfare Bill into law. The legislation will replace the outdated Protection of Animals Act 1911 and will see the introduction of compulsory microchipping of dogs effective from 2016 onwards.

DSPCA’s Microchip 2016 campaign

Friday 10 May 2013: The DSPCA has today announced details of Microchip 2016.  The campaign, launched by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, TD, will see 2,016 puppies and dogs microchipped free of charge by the DSPCA at locations across Dublin in the coming weeks.  These events will begin on Saturday 18th May in the DSPCA premises in Rathfarnham and details of other locations and dates can be found on www.dspca.ie.... Read more

Tomorrow, Wednesday 27th March will see the proposed Animal Health & Welfare Bill once again being debated (fourth stage) before the Dail. The DPSCA is urging all politicians to support the legislation which will replace the outdated Protection of Animals Act 1911 as amended 1965. On an average day the Society receives over 400 calls to its emergency and cruelty line which is up by 150 a day on 2012.  Many of these calls cannot be dealt with under current legislation.... Read more
